Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Self-Defense

Helio Gracie, one of the founders of BJJ, was one of the smallest and weakest of the legendary Gracie family. His small frame forced him to develop fighting techniques that demanded mastery of leverage instead of brute strength. An attacker on the street will likely be bigger than you, which is why BJJ is effective for self-defense, particularly for women.

Muay Thai Kickboxing for Self-Defense

Muay Thai is known as “the art of eight limbs” because of the many striking points on the body. Students learn how to use punches, kicks, elbows, and knees to neutralize an opponent. We also teach our self-defense classes trips, throws, and the clinch, which are all valuable when trying to control an opponent trying to grab you on the street.

Our advanced self-defense students learn through sparring in order to simulate what could happen in a real-life situation.
