Introductory Class Overview
If you or your child are new to McMahon Training Center, getting started is simple and stress-free. We offer a free introductory class in any of our programs—Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Muay Thai Kickboxing—for ages 4 and up.
We understand that starting something new can feel intimidating, but our coaches and staff are here to make sure you feel comfortable from day one.
How it works:
-
Sign up: Fill out a free class form on our website, or call us at 970-482-5601.
-
Schedule: A staff member will contact you with available introductory class times and confirm the details with you the day before. You’ll also receive a digital waiver to complete.
-
Arrive early: On class day, please arrive 15 minutes early so we can show you the facility and walk you through what to expect.
For adults, your intro experience begins with a 30-minute orientation followed by a 1-hour beginner class. For kids, we request that you arrive 15 minutes before our regular kids’ classes so we can show you the facility and explain to you and your child the flow of the class. Then your child will do their orientation and a 45-minute beginner kids’ class all in one. Depending on the program, we’ll provide boxing gloves or a gi for you or your child to use. You’ll meet your coach, get introduced to classmates, and settle in right away.
In the beginner class, you’ll:
-
Warm up with calisthenics and simple drills
-
Learn a few fundamental techniques
-
Practice with a partner, with coaches offering one-on-one support
-
Finish with live rounds to put what you’ve learned into action
Our students are always welcoming and supportive, and our coaches ensure that everyone—from brand-new beginners to experienced athletes—feels included and safe.
Class Descriptions
Little Champs (Ages 4–6)
Our Little Champs program introduces kids to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through games, movement, and age-appropriate drills. Children build confidence, learn respect for themselves and others, and practice how to win and lose with grace — all while having fun. This program sets the stage for future BJJ training.
Junior Grapplers (Ages 7–13)
In Junior Grapplers, kids develop confidence, self-respect, and discipline while learning the foundations of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Classes are open to all levels, with advanced students often helping newer teammates. Alongside martial arts skills, students learn when it’s appropriate to use their training and the importance of responsible practice.
Kids Muay Thai Kickboxing (Ages 7–15)
This high-energy class teaches proper technique for punches, kicks, knees, and elbows, while building endurance, balance, and coordination. Kids will train on heavy bags and in partner drills. This class is included with a Junior Grapplers BJJ membership. Students should wear shorts and a t-shirt and bring gloves.
Teens BJJ (Ages 13–16)
Our Teens BJJ program helps young adults gain confidence, discipline, and self-defense skills in a safe, structured environment. Classes include both technique instruction and live training rounds for more advanced students. No prior experience is needed — all are welcome.
Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
We offer classes for every level:
-
