Team McMahon had another fantastic outing at the Cauliflower Ear tournament
here in Ft. Collins this weekend. Congrats to all the competitors. Angel triangle
choked a competitor to sleep on his way to a gold medal. John Sterling also won a gold
medal in his division. Fresh off a first place finish two weeks ago at the Easton tournament
in Boulder, Bruce fought some colossal competition in the heavyweight advanced division
showing some fantastic technique from his guard. Brennan Davis also showed some
great technique with a flurry of submission attempts in his matches. Lastly, Art, Logan,
and Alejandro closed out a super stacked division to take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Finally, thanks to all the teammates that showed up to root for the team.
I thought it was really amazing the way all our team rushed over to the mats to cheer
every time one of our guys had a match. Nobody could win without good training
partners. Make sure to congratulate these guys when you see them on the mats again.

What a great few weeks we have had here at the McMahon BJJ Family.
First Professor Tessa and I have had our new baby girl!
Students have been bugging me to put up some pictures so here you go.
Here name is Violet and when she came out she tried to put Tessa in an armbar!!
She was 7 pounds 14 ounces and has been quite a blessing.
Next, since we have been celebrating I figured it was a good time for some
of our students to celebrate with us as well. I have given out five well deserved
blue belts in the last week. On Monday night I gave Zach Swartz, Arnaud Arros
and Ramsey Crochet the well deserved Blue belt.
Lastly on Tuesday I gave Ish Heredia and Chalo Gonzales
the Blue belt as well! All of these guys have been working hard and
I’m super proud of them. I hope to see everyone soon back on the mat.
Professor Finnie

SPECIAL GUEST TEACHERS!!
As many of you know Professor Tessa and I are having our first
baby soon. Since I will not be on the mat as much the next few
weeks I've scheduled a few of our teammates to teach the intermediate and
Black Belt class on Monday and Wednesday. First this Monday and Wednesday
we will have Saulo Ribeiro Brown Belt Justin Jacubs teaching. Coach
Justin is a Pan American Champion and has been training with us
for the last year and a half. Everyone has really enjoyed his classes
in the past and it's always interesting to see techniques from a different lineage them ours.
Next on Monday the 2nd we'll have Professor Chaun Sims teaching. Chaun is a Black Belt in
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu under professor Amal Easton. Sims reached the Black in four and a half to
five years and I believe that this alone speaks to his talent. Sims wrestled in
elementary, middle and high school, (6th place in State) and trained
and competed in a few amateur matches boxing. He was born and raised in Two Rivers,
Alaska and spent twenty years living in the Great 49th State. Over the
last three years Professor Chaun has dominated local
grappling and MMA events. Lastly on Wednesday the 4th we'll have
Professor Nick Kline teach. Nick Kline is a Colorado native who grew
up in Thornton, a suburb north of Denver. While attending
the University of Colorado at Denver, Nick began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
training with Professor Easton in June of 2000. He graduated with a degree in
Finance, and decided to focus on training instead of entering
the financial world. Nick started competing after receiving his
blue belt in 2001, and his primary focus was his progression in Jiu-Jitsu.
A few of Professor Klines awards are:
2002 Grapplers Quest West Light Heavyweight Champion (Intermediate)
2002 Pancrase USA Light-Heavyweight Champion
2003 Pancrase USA Light-Heavyweight Champion
2003 Pan American Heavyweight Bronze Medalist (Blue Belt)
2004 Pan American Heavyweight Gold Medalist (Purple Belt)
2004 Grapplers Quest West Light Heavyweight 2nd Place (Advanced)
2005 Pancrase USA Heavyweight and Absolute Champion
2005 Pan American Heavyweight Gold Medalist (Brown Belt)
2005 Grapplers Quest Nationals Light Heavyweight 2nd Place (Advanced)
This is a great opportunity to train with the best guys in
Colorado, don't miss it!!
07/24/10
On Monday night we gave Ian Gilbraith the Blue Belt and
I'm super proud of him. I explained to the class that if you want
anything in life bad enough you will find a way to make it happen.
I've had students that have changed their work schedule around to make it to class.
I have had students that picked up a few extra hours at work to pay for their classes.
I have had students that decided to not go out to the bar on the weekend and by just
doing this it made it possible to make it to class. One of my coaches has been Professor Ricardo
Almeida and he would always say that THROUGH ENDOURANCE WE SHALL CONQUER!!
Through enduring many challenges Ian has reached the Blue Belt and is only at the beginning of his
journey in BJJ. Keep training hard guys. Professor Finnie

and Ian Mitchell! These two both represent so much of what
we all strive for in BJJ, now they get acknowledged for their work!
Coach Roy also earned his purple belt, and as everyone in the school
knows, he has put in more time, energy and effort than seems possible
for one person! He not only is a dedicated practitioner who goes above
and beyond to learn the skills, but has become a leader in the school that
all of us look up to. There are many students still training today
that probably wouldn't be if it weren't for Coach Roy's excellent
teaching, his patience, enthusiasm and kindness on the mat.

propel him into the group of light heavyweights that are considered
for high profile UFC fights. Matyushenko is a popular UFC veteran
with a record of 23-4. Check out a quote from Professor Marshall:
"Hey guys whats up? This is Professor Marshall. I have a big fight coming up against Vladimir Matsyushenko
on Mar. 21 here at the Broomfield Event Center (now The Odeum Colorado). He is a really tough guy
with lots of experience. I will be training hard for the next 10 weeks to prepare to go to battle and represent
Easton BJJ to the best of my abilities. Follow me on twitter and facebook to see how my training is going.
Keep training hard and remember if you simply believe in yourself EVERYTHING is possible!"
