Coach Larry King
Coach
Larry began Training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1999 with Tim Cartmell,
a black belt under Cleber Luciano. Tim lived in southern California,
so Larry and his team of training partners traveled to train with
Tim, and in the meantime, continued to train and develop on their
own. There were few qualified BJJ instructors in the U.S. at the
time, and Larry was on the forefront of spreading BJJ to the rest of
the U.S. In 2000 Larry met Alberto Crane, a Gracie Barra black belt
who had returned from Brazil to live in Santa Fe, NM. Alberto
inspired Larry to continue his training, and truly opened his eyes
to the art. In 2001 Larry moved to Fort Collins when he was
fortunate enough to meet Amal Easton, and was accepted as one of his
students. Since then he has trained with the Amal Easton team/Renzo
Gracie Team, and continues to train and teach both in Boulder and
here at MBJJ in Fort Collins. Larry currently holds the rank of
brown belt.
